FC Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich
Club history …
The first name Francis seems to run like a leitmotif through the history of Bayern Munich. So it was, of a certain Franz, name John, on the evening of 27 February 1900 with other stalwarts decided to secede from the MTV 1879 Munich in order to have better chances to devote himself to football. FC Bayern Munich was born. 18 names included the certificate of incorporation. In 1920, FC Bayern München already had 700 members and was what it is today: the biggest football club in the city.Bayern had long been a fixture in Germany, but when World War II broke out, the sport also rested with Bayern.
Then the football needed some time in Germany and thus at Bayern Munich until it was re-operated with enthusiasm. Although you could win the German Cup for the first time in 1957, thanks to a 1-0 victory against Fortuna Dusseldorf (scorer: Jobst), but again some years passed in which the FC Bayern came not particularly athletic in appearance. So it was not included in the introduction of the Bundesliga in 1963. 1964 failed the “Reds” in the promotion round to the Bundesliga. A year later, under the coaching legend who died in 1998 Tschik Markovic finally moved up into the upper house. At that rise self included, among others, very young guys like Sepp Maier, Gerd Muller and a certain Franz Beckenbauer.
This trio, which still operates today in different functions for Bayern Munich, has a large share of the Munich summit. For no sooner arrived in the Bundesliga began a Erfolgsära that continues to date for Bayern. Already the first Bundesliga year you finished in third place and won the German Cup in the same year. Already in 1967 was also the big international breakthrough. A goal by Francis “Bull” Roth you first won the European Cup Winners Cup with 1-0 win over Rangers.
This triumph was the most successful Aufgalopp time of Bayern, in which the club won almost everything that there was to win. It was the golden era for exceptional footballer as Maier, Beckenbauer and Muller. Between 1968 and 1976 it was four times German champion, two-time German cup winner, three times European Cup Winners’ Cup (1974, 1975, 1976) and World Cup (1976). However, this should be the last great title of this century remain.
There followed years of changes, years without a title. In 1977 Franz Beckenbauer adopted towards U.S. professional league to New York Cosmos. Only a year later followed him Gerd Müller across the pond, his goal was the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. In 1979 Uli Hoeness, at the age of 27 years, the Office of the Manager.
With Paul Breitner and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the young Bayern was back on track in 1980 and won their first league title in six years. A new era to begin. In 1982 we again had nearly the European Cup of Champions back in the hands. But in a superior run game handed opponents Aston Villa a lock-gate to the 1-0 victory. Similarly, one five years later lost to FC Porto in the final of the European Cup of Champions. In 1987 they lost 1:2 in Vienna.
While you could celebrate league titles and cup wins today almost in series in Germany and, you had to wait until 1996 before another international triumph was recorded. 1996, FC Bayern won the UEFA Cup after two victories against Girondins Bordeaux (2:0 and 1:3 in Munich in Bordeaux). The next really big breakthrough was achieved in the new millennium. After a memorable Champions League final against Manchester United in the final seconds playful in 1999 to a 1-0 lead and eventually lost 1:2, the former team coach Ottmar Hitzfeld in 2001 finally took the crown. In Milan they defeated Valencia 5-4 (1-1, 0-1) on penalties and won the Champions League. Oliver Kahn struggled from the same three penalties. In the same year of winning the World Cup also managed thanks to a 1-0 success against Boca Juniors in Buenos Aires. Samuel Kuffour scored the only goal.
Thanks to the outstanding footballers in other functions in the organization equally strong performances were delivering to their careers, as on the court, the FC Bayern has established over the years, the absolute number one in Germany. Internationally, the club belongs to the absolute crème de la crème of football. Especially Franz Beckenbauer (Chairman), Uli Hoeness (manager) and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (chairman) have coined the FC Bayern and shape him in the future.
