Club history …
On 16 Erbert Kilpin founded in December 1899 in the Lombard capital to Milan Cricket and Football Club. He thus laid the foundation for a club that should belong shortly to the most glorious in the world.
1901, the club won its first Italian championship – a team that is a legend to this day: Hoode, Cignaghi, Torretta, Lees, Kilpin, Valerio, Dubini, Davies, Neville, Allison and Formenti.
Two times the club was renamed: First 1919 “FC Milan” and then in 1938 in “Associazione Calcio Milan” (Milan). The club colors of black and red do not change from the beginning. The choice of colors is ultimately at club founder Erbert Kilpin back, which it stated as follows: “We will be like the devil and make all fear”
But after the sensational start (three titles in seven years), the club initially fell into an incredibly deep hole with 44 years without a title. However, there were also positive to report at this time: So then president Pierro Pirelli had built its own stadium by the AC Milan had a lot more leeway. The construction of the San Siro Stadium lasted thirteen months. In the sixties, the AC then sold the stadium to the city of Milan. Later, the arena was named after the late World Champion Giuseppe Meazza, although this was primarily known as a player of great rivals Inter. Since then, we speak at home matches of AC Milan, the San Siro Stadium, home games at Inter, however, the Giuseppe Meazza stadium.
In the fifties, AC Milan began to make a splash at the European level. This was due to exceptional players like the Swedish trio Gren, Nordahl and Liedholm, which was summarily described by the Italian media as a GRE-NO-LI. In the three Scandinavians followed the Brazilian Jose Altafini and the Uruguayan Juan Schiaffino, who in 1950 became a nightmare for the hosts at the FIFA World Cup Brazil.
The sixties were the decade of Nereo Rocco, Cesare Maldini (father of Paolo Maldini), Giovanni Trapattoni and later by Gianni Rivera. What followed, however, was a long time due to the bleakness of “toto nero” – illegal betting.
It was not until 1986, a businessman and owner of television named Silvio Berlusconi bought 90 percent stake in the club, it went up again. Long before grazing Milan from Chelsea transfer market in a big way. ”I do not sell, I only buy” the Neupräsident and later head of the government had already announced when he took office. In less than ten years, AC Milan should win everything. Between 1969 and 2003, the Rossoneri took part in no less than seven times in the Toyota Cup.
2007 the Rossoneri won their first FIFA Club World Cup and gained revenge in the finals at the Boca Juniors for the final defeat at the Toyota Cup in 2003. Even if Kaka was the absolute star of the team, this title is due to the experience of the team of coach Carlo Ancelotti. The average age was 30.7 years of AC Milan.
