Charlie Hunnam Biography

Charles Matthew Hunnam was born in 1980 in the city of Newcastle Upon Tyne, England.

Hunnam , the second of four children, began to develop as an actor from an early age. With only nine years, made his first media appearance in a television series called “ Byker Grove“provided in your country.

Then started taking acting classes and drama, and after graduating from the school of theater, decided to try his luck in an audition and got a job in “ Microsoap ”a popular television series in England.

The following year he made his first appearance on the big screen with the film “ Whatever Happened to Harold Smith? ”where a simple man becomes a star overnight by their incredible telekinetic powers.

In 1999 he starred in what is undoubtedly one of his most recognized roles, that of Nathan Maloney in the controversial “ Queer as Folk . ”

In this series, the protagonist, Stuart , is a homosexual who goes out every night and always gets someone to have sex. The problem begins when he meets Nathan , a young man of 15, who falls for him after a night like any other.

By this time, Hunnam moved to the United States, more precisely to Los Angeles.

“ Queer as Folk ”lasted two successful seasons, and poured Hunnam to be known in the environment, so I quickly began to be a more frequent face on the screens.

So he worked on “ Young Americans ”in 2000 and not long after the FOX series” Undeclared“.

In 1999 he married Katherine Towne , an actress who had met at an audition. They separated in 2002.

His final leap to fame came with his role in the suspense thriller “ Abandon ”in 2002, which starred with Katie Holmes , Benjamin Bratt and Zooey Deschanel . That same year he was seen also in the drama “ Nicholas Nickleby ”.

Since then, his credits for the screen include the films “ Cold Mountain ”, which worked withNicole Kidman , Renée Zellweger and Jude Law , “ Hooligans ”, which he co-starred with Elijah Wood , “ Children of men ”with Clive Owen , and will next be seen opposite Bruce Willis ,Morgan Freeman and Robert Duvall in “ The Last Full Measure ”, to be released in 2010.

Continuing his work for the small screen, between 2001 and 2003 Hunnam played Lloyd Haythe in the series “ Undeclared ”and since 2008 he can be seen in the role of Jackson ‘Jax’ Teller on “ Sons of Anarchy ”.

Currently the actor divides his time between London and Los Angeles.
