Today is the last day of Pope Benedict. He is 85 years old and too weak and tired to continue.The last time a pope resigned willingly was over 700 years ago, in 1294. Benedict was pope since 2005 .
Ring
On the last day, he will leave important people of the Catholic Church. He gives them a gift and delivers his papal ring. Around 17:00 he flies by helicopter to a castle near Rome. He will from the balcony again waving to fans.
White smoke
Probably starting next week a big meeting. Then church leaders met to choose a new pope.That can take weeks. If it is successful there will be white smoke from the chimney of a famous church in Vatican City.
