NASA reported severe problems with space telescope "Kepler"

Washington – The U.S. space agency NASA has apparently serious difficulties with their space telescope “Kepler”. An essential part of the technical orientation of the probe to its targets as a defect, shared with NASA. The mission was compromised.

The problem was discovered after a series of tests. Specifically not work anymore, another of the four so-called spin wheels that kept the telescope in place. As early as last year, a wheel had broken down, could “Kepler” his search for a “second Earth” at least for the time being no longer continue.

NASA wants now looking for ways to fix the spin wheel or to have the telescope in another way functional. “Kepler” was launched in March 2009 to search for “Earth-like” planet. It has since been tracked according to NASA, more than 2,700 candidate planets around other stars.

The Authority had announced last year to let the mission run until September 2016. She had justified its decision with the success story of the orbiting telescope in orbit.
