UN Security Council Passes Resolution on Syria

The UN Security Council adopted a resolution stating that Syria before July 1 next year to destroy chemical weapons. From November 1 this year, the country must begin dismantling the production thereof.


The fifteen members of the UN Security Council voted unanimously for the resolution voted.


The resolution is an international milestone in the Syrian civil war, because China, Russia, the United States, France and Britain, the five permanent members of the Security Council, it could not agree on what to do with Syrian President Bashar al once before -Assad. Three previous resolutions were blocked by a veto by Russia and China.

OPCW


Weapon Experts of the international organization against Chemical Weapons OPCW should be in accordance with the resolution unrestricted access to Syria and arms factories. It’s not just about the facilities that Syria has designated armories, but also to all the locations that other states have logged as suspicious.


Inspectors will begin Tuesday with their controls.


The resolution also states that agreements previously made about the future of Syria are still valid. Probably negotiated in November on a political transition in Syria.
